Talking in the dugout of the Nice American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kapler mentioned, "I don't plan on popping out for the anthem going ahead till I really feel higher in regards to the course of our nation."

I wish that I may have demonstrated what I discovered from my dad, that when you're dissatisfied along with your nation, you let it be known by protest. The house of the brave should encourage this."
Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr made an impassioned plea to take stronger action towards gun violence in the US.Kerr refused to talk about basketball ahead of Sport 4 of the Warriors' sequence against the Dallas Mavericks, instead raising his voice as he railed in opposition to gun violence within the wake of Tuesday's shooting.
"Within the last 10 days, we've had elderly Black folks killed in a grocery store in Buffalo, we have had Asian churchgoers killed in Southern California, now now we have children murdered in school," Kerr advised reporters firstly of the press conference.
"When are we going to do one thing? I am tired. I'm so uninterested in getting up here and providing condolences to the devastated households that are on the market ... I am uninterested in the moments of silence. Enough."
