A Florida judge on Wednesday struck down a portion of a redistricting map drawn by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) and his staff.
Driving the news: "I'm discovering that the enacted map is unconstitutional beneath the Honest District amendment ... as a result of it diminishes African Individuals' capacity to elect the representatives of their alternative," Leon County Circuit Choose Layne Smith said.
Smith is predicted to subject a formal order on Thursday or Friday to ensure that the maps should not in impact throughout November's election, AP reports.Why it issues: DeSantis' plan dismantles the North Florida seat now held by a Black Democrat.
