A fifth grade scholar in Florida was arrested over the weekend and charged with sending a text message threatening to carry out a mass taking pictures, authorities stated.

In an announcement Saturday, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office stated it had learned earlier that day of a "threatening textual content message" despatched by a student at an elementary school.

It said its local college risk enforcement group was instantly notified and started investigating. The ten-year-old boy was interviewed and charged later with "making a written threat to conduct a mass shooting," the sheriff's office stated.

In video shared by authorities, the boy could be seen being led into a police vehicle.

“This scholar’s behavior is sickening, particularly after the current tragedy in Uvalde, Texas,” Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno said in an announcement, noting that the threat came just days after the lethal school capturing at Robb Elementary College left 19 college students and two academics useless.

“Proper now will not be the time to behave like a bit delinquent. It’s not funny,” he said. “This youngster made a fake threat, and now he’s experiencing real consequences.”

Marceno said his team “didn’t hesitate one second...NOT ONE SECOND,” to investigate the incident.

The remark came as authorities in Uvalde face mounting criticism over their response to the May 24 college capturing after it came to mild that they waited roughly an hour for backup instead of instantly transferring in on the gunman.
