Taliban leader orders girls to put on all-covering burqa in public: Decree

Afghanistan’s supreme leader and Taliban chief on Saturday ordered the nation’s ladies to put on the all-covering burqa in public - one of many harshest controls imposed on ladies’s lives for the reason that Taliban seized power.

“They need to put on a chadori (head-to-toe burqa) as it is traditional and respectful,” mentioned a decree issued by Hibatullah Akhundzada that was launched by Taliban authorities at a function in Kabul.

“Those ladies who should not too previous or younger should cover their face, except the eyes, as per sharia directives, with the intention to avoid provocation when meeting men who will not be mahram (adult close male relations),” the decree said.

It added that if women had no necessary work outside it was “better they stay at home.”

During their first regime between 1996 and 2001, the Taliban imposed comparable restrictions on girls.
