Nashville Public Library launches ‘Freedom to Learn’ campaign

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — It is a matter that's taken maintain in Tennessee: books like "Maus" or "Walk Two Moons" have been pulled from cabinets.

While those books is likely to be banned from some colleges, there may be still some place else you'll find them.

"Our job is just to make sure that in order for you it, it's here for you," stated Public Information Officer for the Nashville Public Library, Ed Brown.

"'Maus' is all checked out right now," said Brown. "So we obtained more copies on order but as soon as phrase acquired round about what happened in McMinn County, we acquired a lot of holds."

Those are simply a number of the two million different materials on the Nashville Public Library.

The purpose is to get the 5,000 library cards in the hands of recent sign-ups this month.

"We're not attempting to be a push again — a pressure pushing back against these choices — we need to be a substitute for say, for those who may not be capable to get it there... you will get it right here," mentioned Brown.
