Speaking in the dugout of the Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kapler said, "I do not plan on coming out for the anthem going ahead till I really feel higher concerning the direction of our nation."
In a weblog post, Kapler questioned whether or not the country's leadership is committed to representing its folks's best pursuits and whether or not the US is truly "the land of the free and the house of the brave.""We weren't given bravery, and we aren't free. The police on the scene put a mother in handcuffs as she begged them to go in and save her children. They blocked mother and father trying to prepare to cost in to cease the shooter, together with a father who discovered his daughter was murdered while he argued with the cops. We aren't free when politicians determine that the lobbyist and gun industries are extra essential than our children's freedom to go to school without having bulletproof backpacks and energetic shooter drills," Kapler wrote.
Later, Kapler wrote about his disillusionment with what he called "the lack of delivery of the promise of what our national anthem represents."
"I am not okay with the state of this country. I want I hadn't let my discomfort compromise my integrity. I wish that I may have demonstrated what I learned from my dad, that while you're dissatisfied together with your country, you let it be recognized via protest. The home of the brave should encourage this."
Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr made an impassioned plea to take stronger motion in opposition to gun violence in the US.Kerr refused to discuss basketball forward of Sport 4 of the Warriors' collection against the Dallas Mavericks, as a substitute elevating his voice as he railed towards gun violence within the wake of Tuesday's capturing.
"Within the final 10 days, we have had elderly Black individuals killed in a supermarket in Buffalo, we've had Asian churchgoers killed in Southern California, now we now have children murdered at college," Kerr informed reporters in the beginning of the press conference.
"When are we going to do one thing? I am drained. I am so tired of getting up here and offering condolences to the devastated families which can be on the market ... I am tired of the moments of silence. Sufficient."
