SACRAMENTO, Calif. >> A suspect on the run since a mass shooting left six folks lifeless during an alleged gang dispute in California’s capital metropolis last month has been arrested in Las Vegas, authorities said.

Investigators consider Mtula Payton was one of the alleged gang members who opened fireplace in downtown Sacramento on April 3. He was taken into custody at an condo complicated, the Sacramento Police Division said in an announcement Saturday night.

“Las Vegas Metro Police Division worked with our detectives for weeks in an effort to find Payton,” the assertion mentioned.

It wasn’t identified Sunday if Payton has an attorney who could converse on his behalf.

Payton and two others, brothers Smiley Martin and Dandrae Martin, have been charged this month with murder within the slayings, in addition to weapons offenses.

Investigators provided no motive however stated in courtroom paperwork that Smiley Martin and his companions recorded a web based video hours before the capturing, flashing guns and speaking trash from a location in rival gang territory. In it, they state their plans to move to the downtown space with the intent of opening hearth.

Three males alleged to be gang members and three ladies who have been harmless bystanders died within the shootout that occurred as patrons of bars and nightclubs emptied out onto downtown streets. A dozen extra individuals were wounded.

The Martin brothers, who had been among the wounded, stay jailed. Attorneys for the brothers have yet to touch upon their charging.

Payton, who police say is a member of a rival gang, was being held in a Nevada jail pending transport again to California.
