Three highschool graduation ceremonies ended with shots fired in separate incidents in Louisiana, Michigan and Tennessee within the span of 24 hours, another sobering example of gun violence impacting everyday lives, including that of teenage students.

After college students crossed levels to receive their diplomas, chaos ensued with gunfire.

At the very least one person was killed and 7 others injured in collective shootings that resulted within the arrest of a 17-year-old gunman in Tennessee.

Louisiana

Pictures had been fired Thursday night time round 8:15 p.m as graduates of Hammond High School have been leaving their ceremony held on the campus of Southeastern Louisiana College to meet with their families, police mentioned.

Four individuals had been injured within the gunfire, all with non-life-threatening injuries, Hammond PD Chief Edwin Bergeron Jr mentioned in a Thursday evening information convention. Three have been transported to an area hospital.

A suspect was located after a short foot pursuit and taken into custody, Southeastern Louisiana University Police Chief Michael Beckner advised NBC News Friday morning.

Fees are pending as the probe continues and all events involved have been adults, Beckner stated.

Police stated Thursday no Hammond Excessive School students are believed to be concerned within the capturing. 

“Presently we do not consider that there were any students involved, we do not consider any juveniles have been struck on this incident,” Bergeron said.

Police are asking for witnesses, or individuals with video footage of taking pictures to return ahead. 

There have been Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Workplace deputies on web site working security for the graduation who responded to the capturing and the “scenario was taken beneath management very quickly," officials said.

Tangipahoa Parish Superintendent of Faculties, Melissa Martin Stilley, mentioned Thursday, "We apologize to our families and to our students that this night, which should have been a really completely happy event for our graduates and their households, ended on such a tragic note."

Hammond Excessive Faculty students can have a digital school day Friday, though college will go into to highschool, she said.

Michigan

A capturing erupted on the East Kentwood Excessive Faculty campus outdoors the soccer stadium in Michigan on Thursday during a commencement ceremony for Crossroads Different High School at round 7:20 p.m., injuring two, the Kent County Sheriff’s Workplace said in an announcement.

Two deputies were on web site working security for the ceremony, however by the point deputies obtained to the car parking zone on foot, “the suspect autos had fled.” 

Kent County Sheriff Michelle LaJoye-Younger said in a Thursday evening information conference that people in two cars had been exchanging gunshots.

Tennessee

A 17-year-old was arrested in a deadly taking pictures after a commencement ceremony for Riverdale High Faculty held on the Middle Tennessee State University campus shortly before 9 p.m. Wednesday as the gang was leaving. 

Hasani Brewer, 18, was killed and a 17-year-old highschool student wounded, police said. Brewer and the teenager who was shot had gotten into a fight when a 3rd individual opened hearth, police spokesperson Larry Flowers mentioned at a news convention.

The suspect, who can be 17, was not recognized due to his age. He will likely be arraigned in juvenile court on a first-degree murder charge, Flowers said.

Brewer was a past graduate of the highschool, and the wounded teenager is a junior, he stated.

“The graduation was simply ending, folks were leaving, this struggle began — so simply think about the chaos when pictures rang out,” Flowers mentioned.
